At the Intel Developer Forum, Dell’s VP of tablets, Neil Hand, announced company’s plans to revive the Venue brand. He said that the company plans on reviving the Venue line-up with new tablets that run on Windows 8. The last time we heard about the Venue brand was a year ago when the company launched the Venue and Venue handsets in the market. The not-so-successful devices ran on Android and Windows Phone 7 operating systems respectively.
During the IDF keynote, Neil showcased an 8 inch slate that powered by the latest Windows 8.1 OS update and Intel’s most recent Atom Z3000 processor (codenamed Bay Trail). Reportedly, he also hinted at the possibility of a special event for new Venue devices on October 2 in New York. This would mean that Dell is all set to re-enter the consumer tablet space. Its current line-up of tablets aimed at enterprise market consists of the XPS 10 with Windows RT and the Latitude 10 with Windows 8.
